Pants On Fire - June 5, 2011

“Hey Babe” I heard my boyfriend Seth say as he walked up to me, in the restaurant where I worked. He was followed by Sidney, my best friend, and Josh, Seth’s best friend.

“Hey, how was the movie?” I asked the three of them, watching Seth’s hazelnut eyes bore into mine; making tingles appear all over my slim figure.

“Ugh! Totally not worth watching, you didn’t miss a thing Katie, good thing you had work” Sidney rambled on, not paying attention to the three of us, but instead staring at the two people that had just entered the restaurant. “What is she doing here?” Sidney scoffed, turning her head back towards the rest of us.

I didn’t bother to look at who she was referring to since I was too busy staring longingly at Seth’s eyes and him staring back into mine.

“God will you guys give it a break” Sidney said, knowing she would be rolling her eyes.

“Babe, leave it” Josh said, who was Sidney’s boyfriend.

She turned to look at her boyfriend, making a fake angry face at him seeing that she could never remain angry at Josh for long.

“Hey Katie, do you want to head to the beach? I want to enjoy the last few days of this gorgeous weather” Sidney said to me, her eyes gleamed with excitement.

“Sure, but...” I started to say before I got interrupted.

“No swimming” the three of them said in sync since I had told them this one too many times.

It wasn’t that I didn’t like swimming, it was the fact that there were so many bacteria and other little creatures in the waters, who knew what could happen. So I took the safe side and didn’t go near the water while I was at the beach.

“Okay, do you want to head over there after your shift?” Sidney asked me curiously.

“Yeah, I’ll be done at two so I’ll meet you there.” I told her, purposely not mentioning a certain fact that involved around my lunch break.

“Okay, I’ll go get ready” she told me while holding her boyfriends hand and skipped out of the restaurant.

“I have to go help my dad with some stuff, I’ll see you later babe” Seth said to me, bending down and kissed me on the lips softly.

“Okay, I’ll see you later” I told him as we moved apart, waving to him as he walked out.

Half an hour later I walked outside, to the back of the restaurant for my break and as expected a guy was standing there. He walked over to me and put his hands on my hips, making my body collide with his. He bent his head down and crashed his lips onto mine and after a while, I pulled away from him breathless.

“I feel bad” I told Eric.

“Babe why don’t you just break up with Seth and be with me” He said to me.

I gasped. “Because Seth would hate me and he would kill you. And we wouldn’t last as an official couple” I told him.

He kissed me and I was disgusted with myself for cheating on my boyfriend yet I continued to do it anyway. I pulled away from him moments later, since I had to go finish the rest of my shift.

At around two-thirty I walked onto the beach, I wore a pair of white short shorts with a tube top. I walked to a perfect spot and placed my beach chair on the sand and positioned myself on it. I took my headphones out of my bag and put them in my ears, followed by me putting on my sunglasses. I leaned my head back and rested it at the top of the chair. After a couple of seconds the sun was blocked from my view and I took my sunglasses off to see a hunk standing there blocking my view. He bent down, the sun appearing again making me squint my eyes, and bent on his toes to crouch next to me, his right hand holding him up. I stared at his perfectly toned abs and his muscular arms, instantly falling for him, without knowing who he was.

“Hey Katie” the stranger said casually as if we did this every day. “Remember me?” he spoke to me as he got up and carried on walking down the beach, not looking back once.

I went into though as I stared at him till I couldn’t see him anymore. I went into shock as I realized who it was. It was ‘Him’. He was back. Tommy Sullivan was back. He was back, he had said ‘Hi’ to me and he was...hot. I gulped loudly, too deep in my thoughts to even notice Sidney come and sit next to me. I heard her talking but I couldn’t concentrate nor comprehend what she was saying. I got up from my chair, yanking the iPod headphones out of my ear and running to the water, needing to be away from everything.

The next day, I walked into work and my day went on as per usual. When my lunch break rolled around, my manager Peggy walked up to me.

“Katie, there’s someone outside who wants to see you” she told me as she walked off to serve other tables.

I stood there confused at who would want to see me. I thought it could be Eric, but he wouldn’t ask anyone to tell me to come outside, and he was with Morgan Castle, otherwise known as the snobby girl of the town. I shook my head as I made my way outside through the back door. As I stepped outside, I squinted my eyes, trying to adjust them to the difference of lighting. I saw a dark male figure standing near a jeep, leaning their toned body on the hood of the jeep. I gulped loudly as I reached closer and closer to the figure. When I reached in front of him I shaded the sun from my face by the palm of my hands, instantly making my heart stop beating. It was Tommy again. I must have been obliviously shocked as he placed a hand on his stomach and leaned his head back quietly laughing.

“Katie you will never change” he said, continuing to laugh making me mad.

“What do you want Tommy? Why are you back? Do you want to ruin my reputation again?” I asked, furious as my breath came out in short takes.

He stopped laughing. “Is that what you think? That I came back to ruin your life?”

“Well isn’t it?” I scoffed at him, my furiousness sputtering out of my body.

He leaned off his jeep and took a step towards me. “No it isn’t”

I took a step back. “You’re a jackass” I said, turning away from him intending to walk away.

He got a hold of my hand and pulled me till my back hit the hood of the jeep. He stepped in front of me, and put both of his arms on either side of me, his hands resting on the hood of the jeep.

“A jackass now hmm” he said as he purposely blew on my face with his breath.

“Yes” I whispered, an unwanted feeling swam in my stomach.

“At least I’m not the one cheating on her boyfriend by making out with some other guy” he told her smirking.

Her stomach turned. “You know?”

“Yeah, I saw you two behind the generator on your break” he said, not bothering to wipe the smirk off his face.

“Well why the hell do you care. You left me; you left everyone here because you thought I was cheating you.” I told him, not caring about the tears that were flooding my eyes that very moment. “You freaking went to military school.” I finished off, looking straight into his eyes ignoring the tears that were slowing blurring my vision.

He wiped a lonely tear that had fallen down my cheek and grazed his thumb across my cheek as he continued to gaze down at me not making any other moves.

“Please don’t do this to me. I have a boyfriend now...” I trailed off as he slowly moved his hand downwards and rested it on my neck. He slid his hand to the back of my neck, followed by his other hand and pulled me in.

“A boyfriend that’s not right for you. I only left because you broke up with me” he whispered, looking down at her lips and then at her eyes.

“I only broke up with you because you were leaving, and you weren’t going to tell me” she cried out. “You were going to leave me. Morgan told...” I trailed off as I realized my biggest mistake. “Oh my god, I am such an idiot” I put my head in my hands. “I break up with the most amazing guy, make him leave and then blame it on him when really it’s my fault.” I mumbled in my hand.

“You’re not an idiot. You’re a girl, who jumps to conclusions, but you’re my girl and you will always be my girl.” Tommy said to me.

I took a deep breath and sighed. “You won’t leave me again?” I asked him.

“Never in a million years.” He replied, bending his head down and meeting my lips with his in a passionate kiss.

I pulled away abruptly. “What about Seth”

He laughed. “He’s a big boy, he’ll get over it. Plus I was here first and I’m not willing to share” he bent down again and captured me in another one of his toe lifted kisses, and this time I didn’t pull away for a long time.
