Mini-Monkey - November 6, 2010

“That’s so cool,” Apple said, as Bailey picked up the small golden banana the size of a toothpaste lid.

“I think I’ll make it into a bracelet,” Bailey replied. It wasn’t everyday someone found a small chunk of gold in the shape of a banana. Even though at the moment Bailey didn’t know it was real gold. She was only ten, after all.

They started to walk back to Bailey’s house from the park. They wanted to examine the golden trinket more closely.

When they got to Bailey’s house, she pulled out the small silver chain from her top drawer.

“Perfect,” Bailey said as she pulled the chain through the small hole at the top to the golden banana. She put it on her wrist.

“That’s so pretty!” Apple complemented, even though in the back of her mind she really wished it was hers. It was 6:30 and Apple had to leave. She left on her bike to her house that was only a block away.

Bailey brought the small treasure close to her eyes. It was very detailed. She didn’t realize that it was practically impossible for human hands to craft because it was so small. She wasn’t going to show it to her parents though. They always take my cool things away from me, Bailey thought to herself.

That night Bailey went to sleep with her bracelet on. She liked it a lot; she decided she would never let anyone else touch it.

Pong felt his small shoes on his feet lead him to a large blue house on a long street full of nice homes. This must be it, Pong thought. He felt stupid for losing his priceless treasure while on a long journey. Now his trip to fulfill his task would be even longer. He climbed up the wall and stood on the small ledge by the window. He shimmied through the small opening of the window. He was now in a huge hallway. He sensed that he should go to the door with a cursive ‘B’ on it. He crawled under the door to see a huge twin sized bed. He crawled up it and saw his treasure on the wrist of a human girl. He quietly climbed up the bed and onto the girl’s wrist. He tried to pull the golden banana off of her wrist but it was on a chain. He quickly undid the large latch that was bigger than his hand. He put the banana and the whole chain in the bag on his back. He could use this later.

Bailey woke up feeling something on her hand. She looked down at her wrist to see a small monkey about two inches tall. She shrieked and shook him off of her wrist. Pong was flung of and hit the wall harshly. He gained enough strength to crawl to the window and crawled through the –to his luck- partially opened window.
