We both were made to choke off what we thrive off
But if people were paper I’d burn like you-you
flame in the human race that flickers here!-there!
I need you, you need me more
In the infinite bombshells and exploding dust,
Where I was born soldier,
you are a general.
Like the sky hath poured out in a river,
I am lost in soft earth, rock, dead men, children
You gain, you gain, you gain more greed
And continue to use me
And do nothing yourself but create shortages and wounds
Until the water is applied
And your survivors pack up, regret in their blue eyes
Forever another statement that war isn’t a game
More chapters in the history book
And they’ll tell the next generation that; but they’ll do the same
I am fire, you are more
I am a shape, you aren’t
I will wipe out but you will keep coming.
